September 2006
My family and I are back home again after a wonderful month (August) in Costa Rica, most of it spent at Villa Mango and Casa Amigos. Yes, as they say, rough life, but somebody's got to do it! :-)
The weather was excellent; cool nights and warm days; a great combination of sun and clouds, with some of those tropical rains added in for good measure. We saw many spectacular sunsets and some impressive lightning shows over the ocean. Also, for the first time we saw a sloth hanging out (literally!) on a tree just on the "far" side of the Casa Amigos pool, visible from both villas. Each visit it gets more and more difficult for us to leave....
Here are some of the improvements that we've made to the property since our last update:
- New drawers in all of the bathrooms, installed in the wood panel under the vanities. Now guests will be able to put their toiletries in drawers and not have them on "display" on the counters.
- New standing lamp in Villa Mango's great room, to provide more light at night-time, especially for reading. Extra Credit quiz: Figure out how we got the electricity there for it, without stringing wires across the floor tiles!
- Added 9 additional garden lights to our "private park and stream" area, as well as an additional location from which to turn them off/on. Improves both the safety and the beauty of the gardens at night.
- Double pillows (400 thread count linens) for each guest, to make night-time reading in bed more comfortable.
- Moved the Villa Mango TV to the space under the stereo system; have the TV sound going through the stereo speakers greatly improves the quality of the sound.... Now you can really understand all of the words to your favorite movies!
- As usual, more DVD's added to update our collection.
Guess that's it for the moment; one other note might be of interest... we had our water well tested professionally for a full range of possible contaminants, and it came out perfect. Reassuring to know!
Best wishes to all, for a wonderful Autumn, and thanks for keeping us in mind in case you or people you know (and like! :-) are thinking of a visit to "Paradise!" We would love to be your hosts again.
